About Dave Grogan

Dave Grogan, a proven advocate, innovator, progressive thinker, and servant leader, is a 19 – year Bowie resident, community activist, and volunteer. Due to his in-depth knowledge and understanding of the civic affairs within the District 3 community, he is able to recognize, stand up for, and advocate appropriately when addressing the strengths and weakness that may have an impact upon its citizens.

Dave served as a member of the City of Bowie Education Committee and has held the position of Chair of the “Teacher Appreciation” subcommittee. He has served as the Bowie State University 2000 Alumni chapter President; is an active member of the Lake Arbor Day planning committee; member of the Caucus of African American Leaders; League of Women Voters Prince George’s County chapter; The 100 Fathers Inc., Moms Demand Action, and Prince George’s County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

“Dave is known throughout Bowie as a strong leader, community advocate, and a dedicated and loving father who has an amazing spirit. He is loyal, forthright, and honest. Dave is also a great listener, with a tremendous sense of diplomacy. Dave has an intuitive ability to work well within diverse groups of people. He is one of the most sincere, knowledgeable, and thoughtful people I have ever encountered. His concern for the positive growth and success of Bowie is admirable. Dave has never met a stranger and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Dave has a soft heart when it comes to our children, veterans, and senior citizen's needs within this tight-knit Bowie community.”  – Rene´ C. Mitchell

Dave, a life long resident of Prince George’s County Maryland, is a Drug-free/Natural competitive Bodybuilder and Nutrition consultant. Dave graduated from Oxon Hill High School and then earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Bowie State University. While attending, BSU Dave was recognized by Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. He was the captain of the BSU championship football team and served as a Cooperative Education student with the Department of Justice United States Marshal Service and a “Stay in School student” with the United States Secret Service. Dave went on to serve in the United States Marines and now is an active Veteran who is serving other Veterans throughout the State of Maryland through various organizations.

After college, Dave graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia becoming a Criminal Investigator/Deputy United States Marshal. As a young student, Dave demonstrated his leadership and organizational skills upon his arrival. Dave immediately took the initiative and began unofficially recruiting Federal Law Enforcement Agents. Recognizing that recruiting, mentoring and creating opportunities for members of his community was a true passion and calling from God, Dave worked tirelessly to promote and advocate for his staff.  Dave retired after proudly serving 23 years in a managerial position of his 25-year Federal law enforcement career.

Post-retirement Dave was eager to remain active in his community. During a period of deep introspection, he concluded his talents would be utilized best as a professional public servant and advocate. His special interest includes public safety, maintaining a clean environment, and easy access to mental and physical health, wellness and fitness areas and programs in our communities.

On any given day, Dave can be found at civic meetings, volunteering, or spreading the word about health, wellness, and fitness to those in his community. During his downtime, Dave enjoys live entertainment, stand-up comedy, and most of all spending time with his family.

On November 5, 2019, Dave Grogan respectfully requests your vote for Bowie City Council District #3!
